Abstract [sv]

ABSTRACT Economic crime has continued to increase despite the governments attempt to reduce the numbers. No organization is resistant against economic crime and Sweden is not an exemption. There are not many companies who are aware of the crime rate in the business world. That is why it is important to stop the economic crime in time, otherwise we will all become victims since economic crime affect the entire society. This study observes this problem from a government perspective. The explanation for this is that without the government perspective you can not prevent economic crime. There is a need of cooperation between the private and the public sector and the government is that linkage between them. We choose to use a qualitative method which is based on interviews with government representatives who have the knowledge of this subject matter. The theoretical frame is based on theories that describe economic crime and the possibilities to prevent them from coming to an ending stage. We interviewed three persons representing the government, and they together wished for a better cooperation, throughout sharing information between the divisions in the government and between the government and the private sector. Today there are some rules that make it harder for the divisions to cooperate, for example in some cases there is classified information. Through this improving cooperation preventing economic crime will become easier. Our conclusion is that the legislation shouldn’t be changed but it should conclude more cooperation between the divisions so that they throughout this cooperation can prevent economic crime from happening.
