This paper explores what perfectionism can be in mathematics education and how it can be indicated in student’s task solving. Four dimensions of perfectionism were identified in one student’s work: Excessive Concern over Mistakes, High Personal Standards, Doubts about Actions, and Need for Organization. The literature review show that the number of papers in mathematics education and perfectionism are rather low despite a vast quantity of research in perfectionism. Therefore, it is suggested that this is a research area with great potential, especially regarding the large numbers of students expressing stress.
