Abstract [en]

The notion of value has been thoroughly investigated in philosophy, economics, sociology and other social sciences. However, the notion of value remains highly ill-defined and elusive, as it is subjective as well as context dependent. This paper proposes an ontology for conceptualizing the notion of value ascription that is founded on an analysisof context notions, showing how value of objects can be explained in terms of value of states of affairs.
