Abstract [en]

One of the most celebrated characteristics of Roberto Fontanarrosa's stories is his capacity to evoke in writing the way people spontaneously speak, condensing through such language the whole universe of each of his diverse characters. However, in order to imitate the orality of the characters, it is not enough to simply reproduce a certain vocabulary; on the contrary, many other elements come into play. In this article, I analyze the fictionalization of that orality in some of the author's short stories, studying for that purpose the resources that the writer exploits, both to reproduce the so-called language of communicative immediacy as well as to create a general texture of orality in his narrative work. Moreover, I maintain that this fictive orality is able to produce a feeling of closeness that fosters, in its turn, a strong sense of identification.
