Abstract [en]

En myntreform som genomfördes ca 973 i England innebar att endast en mynttyp blev gångbar i hela England. Dessförinnan visar fynden att det fanns ett system med regionalt gångbara mynttyper. Regionerna kan kopplas till jarlarnas ämbetsområden som i sin tur till stor del byggde på gränserna för de engelska kungadömena före vikingarnas invasioner på 800-talet.
