Abstract [sv]

The rune carver’s name on the rune-stone Sö 333 at Ärja church

The rune-stone Sö 333, at the ruined and abandoned church of Ärja in Åker parish in Södermanland, is signed by a carver who has spelt his name eski. This sequence of runes has previously been interpreted as Æskæll, but as this article shows, the orthography of the inscription suggests another well-attested name, ÆsgæiRR.
