This study analyzes the impact of globalisation on the organization and strategies outlined by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Globalization is seen as a structural transformation of the international system, in terms of going beyond the traditional state-centred view to confront a new multiplicity of nodes of global power. The study intends to understand how countries from the periphery deal with new institutional challenges resulting from globalization. Using the case of the Brazilian diplomatic service, the analysis focuses on the new paths faced by developing countries in order to find their way through the mists of the global highways.
