Abstract [sv]

Fredrika Ehrenborg (1794-1873) was a follower of Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) and spread his ideas about change and spiritual transformation from a practical Christian view. Her writing was concentrated between 1840's and 1870's and contains novels, literature for children, reflections, prayers and polemic pamphlets. Her published letters document life-stories and show receptance, influence and spread of a religious system and the evolution of the New Church in Sweden and Europe. Ehrenborg showed interest in unitarism and reported about other spiritual movements as well. During the Jewish emancipation she wrote and published texts that show her reflections about Swedenborg's speech about the Jewish religion. She saw Jews and Christians as twins and like the spiritual interpretation of the Bible, the one was dependent on the other.
