Stockholm University, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Education. (Ut/bildning som välfärdsprojekt)
2008 (English)Collection (editor) (Other (popular science, discussion, etc.))
Abstract [en]

All over the world education has a primary role for national development and personal well-fare. Most countries are now united in the effort to give basic education. Education is at the core of modernization. Teacher education is essential in this process and is given more attention than ever before as a mean to enhance the quality of general education. In this book nine teacher educators, who have just finished a professional master in education, are presenting results and giving recommendations on how to improve teacher education and schools in Lao PDR. Many of the articles dealing with the factors that might hinder the implementation of “the five pointed star”, how to improve activity-based learning, group activity and learning, teachers’ ways of questioning, the use of illustrations and how to relate to the daily life of the students; each of these methods being represented by a point of the star.
