Abstract [sv]

Only two small fragments remain of the rune stone U 1003 from Frötuna in Rasbo parish, Uppland. As this paper shows, there is a previously overlooked 18th century drawing depicting the stone when it was still almost complete. According to the drawing the stone was erected by a mannamed Runfast in memory of his father, who died »in Holmgard» i.e. Novgorod in Russia.
