The chapter examines how vernacular images come into play in the process of negotiating identities around the complex experience of migration and return in the context of contemporary Europe. Relying heavily on one individual's narrative, the study examines the tourist/exile's visual media practice and how these documents are edited and framed in re-presentations that form a narrative of personal history, memory and identity.
