Abstract [en]

The thesis investigates the future profit potential of UMTS licensed network operators in the 3G mobile telecommunications industry. The investigation is based on a multiple case study method. First, the financial markets are analysed using the efficient markets theory in two time series based on an event study technique. Secondly, a market analysis is made using the theory on competitive forces determining the attractiveness of the industry.
