Upsatsen tar sin utgångspunkt i att marknaden är effektiv. Utifrån en eventstudie faställer författarna att det sker en abnormal avkastning kring dagen för annonsering om aktieåterköp. Vidare diskuteras de teoretiska förklaringarna till varför marknaden reagerar positivt.
