Abstract [en]

Creation of meaning is a process with no end and no beginning. The aim of the thesis is to discuss power relationships within and in between the elements of stratification in the Network Society, and how these relationships affect creation of meaning. The main characteristics of the Network Society are presented with help of theories by Castells, Kelly and Vandermerwe. A brief description of Relationship Marketing is also presented to enhance the discussion. The main characteristics of the Network Society are relationships, collaboration, Information Technology and globalisation. We distinguish between three elements of stratification in the Network Society: Active Creators, Passive Networkers and Passive Outsiders. The elements are constructed around theories by Castells, Reich and Bauman.
