Abstract [en]

Today greater demands are placed on companies to internationalise and organisations must attract individuals with acquired competence for international assignments. This skill will be vital for organisations in economies like Sweden, highly dependent upon activities far outside its geographical borders. Prior research states that dual-careers are one of the major obstacles for successful relocations of employees. The dual-career dilemma has surfaced earlier in Sweden than in most other countries and therefore it is of high interest to investigate the dual-career implications from a Swedish perspective. In order to increase the awareness of what implication dual-careers may have for international assignments in international organisations, a literature study combined with interviews with representatives of eleven international Swedish organisations was conducted.
