In this Master-thesis the subject “Swedish executives self-awareness concerning decision making in cross-cultural organisations” is dealt with. The purpose is to increase the understanding of the subjects meaning as well as increasing the understanding for the explanations behind the development of the Swedish executives self-awareness in this situation. The results are a contribution to the research within the area of cross-cultural management. The method used is hermeneutic were the primal material is based on interviews made by Swedish executives in cross-cultural organisations, foreign colleagues as well a consultant within the area of leadership development in cross-cultural organisations. The results shows the meaning of the subject from an interaction and cultural point of view, because of the easier co-operation between Swedish executives and their foreign colleagues. It also shows an increasing understandability for two different types of explanations to the development of self-awareness. Namely “the striving for reward” and “the cultural forces”. Observe that all the results are based on subjective interpretation from chosen empirical and theoretical parts.
