During the last 40 years there has been an immense growth within the research field of strategy, most likely as a result of the fact that business challenges are perceived as becoming more numerous, more threatening, and at the same time more urgent. Several authorities highlight that the industry and market evolution, in terms of becoming more and more dynamic and unpredictable, is occurring to an increased number of industries, and that no industry is safe from this evolution since changes taking place in one industry affect the others. Simultaneously it has become evident, to both theorists and practitioners, that the concept of strategy embraces the overall rationale of an organisation – the decisions, the domain, the advantages, the plan, and the stakeholder relations. Consequently, the understanding of strategy and its surrounding processes have received a very prominent role within the contemporary business environment.
