Abstract [en]

This thesis purpose is to highlight the impact of the New Basel Capital Accord (Basel 2) on the capital requirements for Swedish Banks and to show how SMEs (small and medium sized businesses and enterprises) will be affected by the new rules. This is a very current issue (2004) because at this moment the banks are actively developing and implementing systems that will comply with the New Basel Capital Accord so we will likely see or, in some cases, have already seen the effects on the economy.
