Abstract [en]

The purpose of the research was to investigate how the Chinese WTO entrance in December 2001 so far has affected the activity of four Swedish financial companies. The research approach used in the thesis is an adductive approach, which means that a mixture of both the deductive and inductive approach has been used. In this report the primary data was in form of in-depth interviews. Secondary data that was collected through literature studies was needed primarily to find a theoretical framework and to fortify the results from the interviews. The theory framework is based on Portfolio Management Theory and Liberalisation of New Markets Theory. For the research the companies Handelsbanken, Svenska Enskilda Bank, Skandia, and Hagströmer & Qviberg have been interviewed. The case selection was based on a previous Master Thesis from 2001, where these four companies, among a few other firms, were interviewed.
