Abstract [en]

Microfinance is a generic term for small-scale financial services offered to poor people who are not considered profitable by the formal financial sector. The aim of microfinance is to make the financing accessible to a larger part of the population. Microfinance is underdeveloped in Argentina; this can partly be explained by its relative good economical performance. The recent financial crisis has drastically changed this situation and generated a large demand for microfinancial services in Argentina.
