Intern marknadsföring syftar till att förändra företagskulturen till att behandla alla anställda som (interna) kunder. Detta anses leda till högre kvalitet på service och i sin tur förbättrat beteende mot externa kunder med målet att dessa i slutändan ska bli mer nöjda och lojala.
