Abstract [en]

The main premise of this thesis work proposes that the distribution logic of the film industry is and will be shifting towards on-demand distribution logic rather than the mass-market distribution logic, a model that in some aspects may already have peaked. In order for the present distributor to survive this shift, they will need to reinvent their current functions. This paper offers a framework to understand the ongoing shifts, gives advice for long term strategic consideration and it describes effects on the film’s life cycle.
