Abstract [en]

The outdoor industry manufactures, distributes and sells clothing and equipment aimed at activities in the great outdoors. A healthy natural environment is therefore a main prerequisite for its success and survival, both in the short and the long term. While environmental problems on Earth are not diminishing by any leap of imagination, a look at the marketing of firms in this industry does not reveal any special focus on the state of the environment. The purpose of this study is therefore to explore why concern for the natural environment is not explicitly present in the marketing of businesses within the outdoor industry.
