In the era of globalization and increasing pace of technological innovation a large verity of strategic alliances has been formed. A large numbers of these alliances have ended up in disintegration. Hence, the importance to study and understand what makes different kinds of alliances work has become even more important together with the increasing pace of new alliances. This thesis addresses the importance of strategic fit and the dynamic aspect of cultural work in one kind of strategic alliance, the joint venture, by a case study of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communication.
