Abstract [en]

The article provides a long historic perspective, pointing out that the problem of man and nature is as old as human history itself. In particular it focuses on climate, which appears to have been a solution to many of the fundamental problems facing philosophers from Hippocrates to Montesqieu. Thus, it discusses the emergence and developmet of the powerful historic idea that man can change climate (or nature in general) for the benefit of human beings.
