Wage Drift in Norway: A Bargaining Approach
University of Oslo.
1989 (English)Report (Other academic)
Abstract [en]

Wage drift in Norway is considered an outcome of wage bargaining at the form level. A non-cooperative bargaining model is set up, and an equation for wage drift is derived within this framework. The equation is found to work well as an empirical explanation of wage drift in Norwegian manufacturing. Wage drift is found to be negatively related to the size of the inventories, and positively to the vacancy rate and to increases in gross product relative to wages.
