This study is based on qualitative interviews with three heterosexual men about their consumption of online porn. By asking questions about openness and sociality, it focuses on aspects of identity in relation to masculinity theories and societal discourse about porn. In addition it also aims to give some in depth examples of how consumers navigate in the virtual pornographic landscape, and their experiences about Internet as a pornographic medium. The theoretical platform consists mainly of regional theories as a framework for the central concept of 'Swedish normative masculinity', but also includes the international concept of 'hegemonic masculinity'. The interviews shows that those of the consumers who have been using other pornographic mediums earlier have increased their consumption since they started to use the Internet. It also seems as though their virtual navigation is characterized by often highly 'tailor-made' preferences which are encouraged and enabled by the user structure of the Internet. The material implies connections between different configurations of masculinity and the critical issue of porn, with the consequences of some of the informants not being able to tell anyone at all about their porn consumption, while others are almost totally open to anyone. The analysis suggests a form of attitude towards porn called the neo liberal enthusiasm which is part of an intellectual, liberal ideology, and is being sanctioned by the global hegemonic masculinity. This attitude might be a sign of negotiations taking place about the social democratic 'normative Swedish masculinity'.
