Abstract [en]

An analysis of chap. 6 De taciturnitate in Regula Benedicti on the relation of master and disciple and on silence vs. talk and laughter introduces an investigation of the comments on this chapter by the abbot Smaragdus of Saint-Mihiel in the 9th century, the nun Hildegard of Bingen in the 12th century and the Spanish Dominican Juan de Torquemada in the 15th century.
