To the Editor: In their article, “Performance of Pharmacovigilance Signal-Detection Algorithms for the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System,” Harpaz et al.¹ report an evaluation of signal-detection algorithms for spontaneous reports in the US Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System against a benchmark constructed by the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership.
