Abstract [en]

The conclusion of this paper is that terms of imprisonment are inefficient and double-edged means to check and suppress ideological opposition. A wealth of historical examples from different parts of the world are adduced to support the evidence for the recoil and boomerang effects of locking up dissidents in penitentiaries.
