Leanne Weber’s Policing Non-Citizens is an empirical tour-de-force on immigration policing. In it, she methodically depicts the network of agencies and actors in New South Wales, Australia who both individually and in coordination seek to detect, detain and possibly deport ‘illegal’ immigrants. To those interested in how contemporary states deal with ‘illegal’ migration, Weber’s book presents itself as a truly necessary read.
