The aim of this article is to analyze the issue of trauma and literature in the context of the Algerian war, as presented in two novels by Algerian writers who use French in a multicultural way: Un regard blessé [Shattered vision] by Rabah Belamri and La Malédiction by Rachid Mimouni [the Malediction]. It will answer the following question:is it possible to see in the francophone Literature a tendency to de-structure the text in order to make it possible for a new plurality to emerge? Literature re-members culture as it points out the dark side of the Algerian history, it makes the readers understand the current situation and the heritage of the past.

Remembering does not mean reproducing, or duplicating time, but re-structuring time, restructuring a story and building up a new identity through words. The process of memorizing (remembering) and a structuring process (recollecting the pieces) are both linked to the idea of “re-membering”. In both novels, we find this re-membering process at the very heart of the writing process. The re-membering process is a part of the cultural memory. Maurice Halbwachs insisted on the reference frame for a collective memory (Halbwachs, 1925, p. 124). The collective memory depends on the social group who defines it, the family, the religion or another collective entity (Sabourin, 1997, p. 141). Here, the re-membering process is an attempt to structure a traumatic migration experience. In this cultural memory, we would like to use the concept of Castoriadis, the imaginary signification (Castoriadis, 1975). Castoriadis was himself a Greek émigré that came to France after the Second World War (Jollivet, Premat, Rosengren, 2011, p. 14). He developed a theory in 1975 based on the definition of imaginary significations. A culture is defined by a pattern of imaginary significations that means a set of representations / intentions / affects (Castoriadis, 1975, p. 433). These significations make sense for a culture as they create values symbols and representations that cannot be explained.

In the re-membering process, Awumey and Thúy catch some experiences and try to relate them to some imaginary significations. At the same time, the migration creates a conflict of representations that makes difficult to recreate a coherent world.

In his Nobel speech on 7th December 2008 Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio declared that literature had become a weapon in the service of the expression of cultural identity. He referred more specifically to the Innu writer Rita Mestokosho and to her commitment to the protection of a certain way of life. Rita Mestokosho is born in 1966 in Ekuanitshit Innu territory where she is still living today. Her first book of poetry Eshi Uapataman Nukum ( How I perceive life , Grandmother) was published in 1995. Republished in Sweden in 2010 in a bilingual edition. Her latest book Née de la pluie et de la terre was published in 2014 by Editions Bruno Doucey. As a member of the Innu council, Rita Mestokosho acts as a communicator for her community and is very much involved in cultural and educational projects. "I am Innu, and Innu means human being. We are almost 15.000 Innus, split into 11 communities, 2 in Labrador with English as their second language, 9 in Quebec with French as their second language. We live between 2 worlds, the modern and the traditional. Finding a balance between them is not easy because our traditional land is always threatened by the bigger forest-industries, the dams for hydro-energy and the mines. Our life and survival are linked to the survival of the rivers, the forest and the lakes. Writing in a language, in the French language is also a necessity. It enables us to reach a wider audience for expressing our fears in a poetical way." The communities of Pessamit, Essipit, la Romaine, Mashteuiatsh, Matimekosh, Mingan, Natahsquan, Pakuashipi, Uashat Maliotenam  which are the 9 communities in Quebec compose what Rita M. names the Innu " nation ". Rita M. represents indeed a small cultural minority but literature enables her to speak with a universal voice as her poems are published in a multilingual edition. We would like to present here how the fight for the survival of the Innu community reflects the rise of a political native awareness in Québec. We will refer to the interviews we had with Rita Mestokosho during her 2 visits to Stockholm in 2009 and 2014 and to the articles we wrote for the Quebec magazine  Littoral/ Côte ouest (GRÉNOC groupe de recherche sur la l’écriture nord-côtière) 

Man tycker att det är självklart att en kurs i främmande språk öppnar en ny referensram och ger tillfället att upptäcka en ny litteratur. Studenterna lär sig ett språk för att kommunicera och lära sig en ny kultur. Samtidigt kan språket blir svårt att behärska innan man vill uttrycka något intressant. Hur kan man motivera studenter så att de inte hamnar i en stereotypisk vision av kultur på grund av språkhinder? Vi vill presentera ett nytt sätt att tänka kring lärandemålet i en kurs som berör den kulturella analysen. Vad betyder att undervisa ett språk i ett kulturvetenskapligt perspektiv? Vilket innehåll ska vara relevant så att studenterna lär sig språket i en kulturell kontext? Christophe Premat och Francoise Sule kommer att presentera en ”short story” som väcker ett intresse hos studenter för att lära känna en kultur och ett språk. Smaka på språk, kultur och bli kreativ inom att använda din kritisk granskning. Deltagarna ska få en introduktion om Frankrike (några ord, några datum, några aktörer), de ska bygga en liten historia om vad Frankrike betyder för dem med hjälp av dessa ord Sedan ska vi sammanfatta och förklara de viktigaste kulturella begreppen Sessionen ska i slutet introducera hur man formulerar lämpliga betygskriterier för en kurs i kulturvetenskap

Rita Mestokosho a été l´invitée du Festival de littérature d´Umeå, du 13 au 15 mars 2014. Son échange - enregistré et disponible sur Internet- avec deux représentants de la communauté samie a été suivi avec grand intérêt par un public nombreux. Les deux représentans de la communauté samie sont Niillas Somby et Anders Sunna. 

« Je suis innue, et innu veut dire être humain. Nous sommes à peu près 15 000 innus dispersés dans 11 communautés, 2 au Labrador qui sont anglophones de langue seconde, 9 au Québec qui sont francophones de langue seconde. Nous vivons entre deux mondes, le moderne et le traditionnel. L´équilibre entre les deux n´est pas facile car notre terre traditionnelle est toujours menacée par la destruction de grosses compagnies forestières, des barrages hydroélectriques et des mines. Notre vie et notre survie sont attachées à celui des rivières, des forêts et des lacs. Écrire dans une langue, la langue française est aussi une nécessité. Celle de pouvoir diffuser à un vaste auditoire nos préoccupations dans une langue poétique » écrivait Rita Mestokosho, écrivaine et représentante de la communauté innue habitant le fleuve La Romaine. La « nation » innue, comme la nomme Rita Mestokosho, est composée de neuf communautés du Québec, celles de Pessamit, d´Essipit, de la Romaine, de Mashteuiatsh, de Matimekosh, de Mingan, de Natashquan, de Pakuashipi et d´Uashat-Maliotenam. Rita Mestokosho est ainsi la représentante d´une minorité culturelle de taille modeste et la littérature est ce qui lui permet de porter une voix. Le français est ici la langue seconde utilisée pour affirmer cette exigence.de communication à un public plus large. Nous nous appuyons sur un long entretien que nous avions réalisé avec Rita Mestokosho le 10 octobre 2009 lors de son passage à Stockholm pour une série de conférences et la présentation de son œuvre.

L’entretien avec Bienvenu Sene Mongaba a eu lieu le 30 septembre 2010 à l´Institut français de Stockholm. Bienvenu Sene Mongaba avait participé au Salon du Livre de Göteborg (23-26 septembre 2010) consacré à l’Afrique. Il revient ici sur les notions de francophonie et de bilinguisme en s’appuyant sur le cas du Congo-Kinshasa.

L´article porte sur la manière dont les classes bilingues ont émergé en Suède depuis une dizaine d´années. Dans un pays à fort potentiel multilingue et où l´anglais est une langue seconde acquise par la population, il importe de privilégier une approche pragmatique du bilinguisme français-suédois fondée sur des projets innovants. Par ce biais, les nouveaux publics bilingues peuvent être valorisés afin que l´attractivité du français en Suède soit renforcée. L´article décrit des activités expérimentées en milieu suédois en analysant la manière dont les deux langues ont été réparties.

The article focuses onthe way bilingual classes have been implemented in Sweden since 1995. In amultilingual country where English is fluently spoken by almost all thepopulation, it is all the more important to encourage a pragmatic approach ofthe bilingualism French-Swedish based upon innovative projects. Hence, the newbilingual pupils can strengthen the influence of the French Language in Sweden.The articles describes activities experienced in Sweden with a focus on therepartition of both languages.
