Title [sv]
Lärares autonomi i Sverige, Finland, England och Tyskland
Title [en]
Teacher autonomy in Sweden, Finland, England and Germany
Abstract [en]
This project aims to investigate teacher autonomy in four national contexts: Sweden, Finland, England and Germany. Autonomy is understood as the teachers’ scope of self-regulated action that can differ in terms of the various domains of the teaching profession, of its quality and among different teachers. Starting from a lack in research on the impact of nation-specific particularities on teacher autonomy, the project will employ a quantitative survey design in the four countries involved. However, the questionnaire development builds on an ethnographic pre study, in order to gain knowledge of where teacher autonomy is constituted and how teachers describe the phenomenon. Furthermore, the questionnaire will be tested in an extensive pilot study. The questionnaire study itself aims to cover 200-250 teachers from an independent and random sample of 15 schools per country.
