Abstract [fr]

Abstract [en]

The first novel C´est le soleil qui m´a brûlée is characteristic of the style of Calixthe Beyala with a typical use of short sentences, zeugmas and metonymies suggesting a form of deep resistance of women to the masculine order imposed upon the Headquarters of the sex women workers. If the lexical fields of dirt and failed sexual relationship inhabit the novel, the character of Ateba takes on a mythical dimension of defence of the feminine gender. The article qualifies this eroticist passion in the novel revealing a ruthless struggle between the two sexes in order to find an original feminine mythical force capable of giving meaning to the surrounding world. The eroticist tension shows the weakness of male bodies condemned to stalk a desire that they cannot reach.
