Este artículo propone una relectura de La mujer nueva (1955), de Carmen Laforet, en el marco de revisión actual de la literatura de postguerra. Frente a las lecturas autobiográficas y las ideológicas se propone una lectura centrada en la polifonía, ambigüedad y complejidad narrativa del texto para cuestionar tanto su (baja) valoración en las historiografías literarias sobre la época como las simplistas interpretaciones fundamentadas en la biografía de la autora. En cambio, se propone que el libro constituye una representación desde una sensibilidad femenina sobre la desigual situación social en España y las dificultades para expresarse literariamente como mujer bajo el primer franquismo mediante un minucioso análisis de la tercera parte del libro, la cual ha sido fustigada tanto por razones literarias como ideológicas. El análisis pretende mostrar cómo el complejo entramado narrativo constituye una forma de disenso con respecto a la ideología del poder nacionalcatólico y paternalista imperante.
This article proposes a new reading of La mujer nueva (1955) by Carmen Laforet within the framework of the current review of postwar Spanish literature. Against prevailing autobiographical and ideological readings, the one here proposed shows the polyphony, ambiguity and narrative complexity of the novel to dispute both its (low) value in literary historiographies of the time and the simplistic interpretations based on the author's biography. Instead, it is proposed that the novel constitutes a representation through feminine sensibility of the unequal social situation in Spain and the difficulties experienced by the author to express herself through literature as a woman under the first Francoism, through a close reading of the third part of the novel, which has been criticized for literary and ideological reasons. The analysis aims to show how the complex narrative framework constitutes a subtle form of dissent in relation to the ideology of the prevailing National-Catholic and paternalistic Establishment.
